Working a morning shift at the 911 dispatch call center, Joe Bayler (Jake Gyllenhaal) goes through the typical ups and downs of the job. From responding to emergencies like armed robberies and calls for the fire department to more mundane and time-wasting requests Joe's patience wears thin when he gets a call from a seemingly distraught woman looking for someone to talk to. However, he begins to realize this woman is in distress and discovers she's been abducted. As more of the mystery is uncovered Bayler is left on edge doing everything he can to ensure the woman survives.
