Working a morning shift at the 911 dispatch call center, Joe Bayler (Jake Gyllenhaal) gets a call from a distraught woman who appears to just be looking for someone to talk to. However, just before he hangs up, he realizes this woman is in distress and has been abducted by an armed individual. With only the barest of information to work on and little support available due to a nearby wildfire, Bayler's only means of helping the woman is through the phone. As more of the mystery is uncovered, Bayler is left on edge doing everything he can to ensure the woman survives.
