Famed physicist and chemist Marie Curie (Rosamund Pike) is making a presentation about radium. Marie meets her soon-to-be husband Pierre Curie (Sam Riley), who is enthralled by her science and proposes a partnership. Through their work, Marie discovers a new element and the couple is nominated for a Nobel prize, however only Pierre is on the commendation. Marie must now work even harder to fight for the respect she deserves from both society and the science community.
