LUKE GRIMES

Date of Birth: January 21, 1984

Luke Grimes was born in Dayton, Ohio to Reverend Randy Grimes and Angie Baker. Luke is the youngest of four children. He graduated from Dayton Christian High School in 2002, then moved to New York City to studying acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Luke's father was a Pentecostal preacher, and summers were spent at church camp. "I was pretty sheltered growing up," he told Blag magazine.

In 2010, Luke auditioned for the role of Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise. The role would eventually go to Robert Pattinson. Don't feel too bad for Luke, because it wasn't long before he was playing a vampire named James Kent on the hit television series True Blood.

He played a supporting role as Navy SEAL Marc Lee in the Oscar-winning film American Sniper (2014), directed by Clint Eastwood. In the movie, Luke played a teammate of Chris Kyle, who was played by Bradley Cooper.

Luke Grimes was cast as Elliott Grey in 2015's Fifty Shades of Grey and he reprised his role in 2017's Fifty Shades Darker and in 2018's Fifty Shades Freed.

The Magnificent Seven propelled Luke Grimes even further into the spotlight. He stars alongside movie legends Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke and Chris Pratt. The film premieres September 8, 2016 at the Toronto International Film Festival.

In addition to acting, Luke Grimes loves to play the drums; it's a skill he picked up in church. When Luke's not busy making movies, he plays in an alt-country band.
