Argylle takes weekend box office title from Mean Girls

Argylle poster - Argylle tops weekend box officeAfter winning the top spot at the weekend box office for three weeks in a row, Mean Girls was pushed out of the top five by new spy thriller Argylle, which features an all-star cast.

Argylle starring Bryce Dallas HowardHenry CavillJohn CenaSamuel L. JacksonSam RockwellCatherine O’Hara and Bryan Cranston debuted at No. 1, earning $21.4 million.

The Chosen: Season 4 – Episodes 1-3 about the life of Jesus debuted in second, taking in $9 million.

The Beekeeper starring Jason Statham dropped a spot to third, earning an additional $6.7 million for a four-week total of $50.9 million.

Wonka starring Timothée Chalamet dropped a spot to fourth, earning an additional $5.5 million to cross the enviable $200 million mark ($201.9 million) in eight weeks. Click here to read our review.

Rounding out the top five was the animated film Migration, taking in an extra $4.9 million for a seven-week total of $106.9 million.
