i read the book and saw the movie. Minnie was great in it. I liked the story and it represented the time and the attitudes of the people living thru those years

really enjoyed this movie. Especially to see what it was like back then, pretty sad how the help were treated. Glad society has changed in the way they treat people.

User review rating: 4 October 23, 2011

Brings attention to racial discrimination many young people are not aware of.

User review rating: 5 October 23, 2011

I read the book first so of course I liked the story to begin with, but I was surprised my husband liked it as well. What blew me away was the sets and the actors they chose; both really brought the story to life. This is a feel good movie with a few real belly laughs thrown in for good measure.

Excellent movie that provides a small incite into the evil of prejudice that was (and in many ways still is) found in some societies.

User review rating: 5 October 23, 2011

Eye opening, jaw dropping movie. A must see move!

User review rating: 5 October 23, 2011

THE MOVIE WAS A GREAT PORTRAIT OF THE AMERICAN SOUTH. THE CHARACTERS WERE WONDERFUL AND ACTING WAS GREAT. YOUR EMOTIONS WERE TAKEN TO ALL LEVELS.

User review rating: 5 October 22, 2011

This was without a doubt one of the most enjoyable movies that I have watched all year! I did not read the book but was constantly entertained by the actors in the movie; all of whom were perfectly cast for their roles!

WOW!I read the book first, and they did an incredible job of translating a touching book into a touching movie. The characters were perfect - Minnie is adorable! Definitely a MUST-SEE for our generation.

User review rating: 4 October 21, 2011

Very entertaining. Opens your eyes to what people endured in the past.

I really enjoyed this movie. The other people in the theatre with us clapped with pride when one character in particular "won" a point so to speak. It made me feel good to know there were people that helped the "staff" in the past to stand up and be proud of who they were as seen in this movie. I never understood how or why people treat other humans so disrepectful. Why does one race feel so superior to another? crazy as there is so many unique qualities in each. Thanks

Incredible movie!! Had me rivoted to my seat the entire time, and I never once realized I was sitting in the 2nd row of a very uncomfortable theatre seat!!

User review rating: 4 October 21, 2011

Very good movie. Bryce plays her mean character very well.

User review rating: 3 October 20, 2011

This is a movie that is a bit too politically correct but is also a plausible plot. The acting helps it rise up to the ratings it is getting, so I think it is a bit pat and predictable but also inspiring because the acting's well done.

LOVED this movie. A good movie to see with the girls but at the same time, I believe some guys would enjoy too.

User review rating: 5 October 20, 2011

This movie was amazing. I did not read the book prior to watching it but I did afterwards. The actresses all played their roles beautifully! Octavia Spencer was absolutely perfect as Minnie.

User review rating: 5 October 20, 2011

A wonderful movie that gives people a glimpse of what the 60's were like. It was funny, sad and heartwarming.

User review rating: 5 October 20, 2011

Excellent movie. It was an amazing cast and story line. I think the movie and the cast have Oscar written all over it. Truly sad to think that people would and do treat others with that must disregard and disrespect.

User review rating: 5 October 20, 2011

Fabulous movie -- a must see. Very true to the book which I like.

this is an outstanding movie. I saw it once and want to see it again. It truly shows what it must have been like for black people in the south in the 60's. Acting is superb!

User review rating: 5 October 20, 2011

I totally LOVED this movie and you all know the storyline so without giving a spoiler alert, I just will say, see it, you will laugh and love it.

User review rating: 5 October 20, 2011

Excellent movie, telling it like it was back then. You just had to feel it for both sides.

User review rating: 5 October 20, 2011

I lived during these turbulent times. This movie tells it like it truly was. I urge young people to see this movie to learn about those times and perhaps ensure they don't perpetuate the discriminatory practices on yet another generation.
