Great movie, interesting and suspenseful

User review rating: 3 October 18, 2013

Overall the movie was good. There were some parts that I found either dragged or were confusing. I found there were also characters that I spent the whole movie trying to figure out who they were and the part that they played and never found the answers to it. For the most part though the movie was engaging and the actors did a great job. I especially liked Benedict Cumberbatch. If you are into historical/drama, you will probably enjoy it.

User review rating: 4 October 18, 2013

At first was pretty slow in the beginning but as the movie went on it was filled with action, truth and suspense. Nice to know true based stories come to a movie basis.

User review rating: 4 October 18, 2013

It is interesting to see how Wikileaks got started and also good to know that the truth must not be spread. Julian Assange did not approve of this movie, so there may well be a lot of grey zones. A solid performance as always by Benedict Cumberbatch and Daniel Brühl. As stated, there are not many people willing to sacrifice so much for truth to be known.

It was action packed, very tense, great actors. Loved it!!!!

This film was very well directed by Bill Condon.I enjoyed how well Benedich Cumberbatch portrayed Julian Assange's idea of his weikleeks .Well wearth seeing .Enjoyed !

Both the kindest and most damning thing you can say about The Fifth Estate is that it primarily hobbles itself by trying to cram in more context-needy material than any single drama should have to hear

User review rating: 4 October 18, 2013

I really enjoyed the movie, it was a trilled what will happen next. I love Benedict Cumberbach, he's such good looking guy. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to see the pre-screening. I told my friends to watch it today,

Great acting and interesting story, I know more about WikiLeaks now.

User review rating: 3 October 18, 2013

I am definitely more informed about what "WikiLeaks" was all about after seeing this movie. The first half of the movie it pulls you in and builds you up to want to jump on the bandwagon and join the crusade only to bring you back down to reality where your morals step in and slap you in the second half of the movie!

User review rating: 3 October 17, 2013

Benedict Cumberbatch is excellent as Jullian Assange and the film is gorgeous to look at, but the script just doesn't quite live up to the promise.

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

The story was really interesting and the actors, almost without exception, brought their characters to life effectively. Good movie.

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

I enjoyed this movie, but at times had some difficulty understanding some parts. Wish I would have researched 'WikiLeaks' on the net before seeing the movie so I could keep up better with the story. Benedict Cumberbatch - great acting!

Enjoyed this movie, will go see it again. It's scary how real 'The Fifth Estate' is

User review rating: 3 October 17, 2013

Was pretty interesting.

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

It sure was one of those movies where you had to pay attention to detail. I quite enjoyed the story, explanation and history. I've recommended it to my friends already.

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

It was an enlightening movie. It sure makes me better understand the whole background story. I quite enjoyed it.

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

It was a pretty interesting insight into Assange and WikiLeaks, but at parts felt a little dull and had too much detail.

User review rating: 0 October 17, 2013

Very good, movie it keep you on your seat all the movie. I think the actor did a great job with this movie. I do recommend this movie

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

It's an intellectual movie that intrigues yourself how the government hides information from the masses...a very good thriller

User review rating: 3 October 17, 2013

Fast paced with good acting. Some of the hand held camera work may make you dizzy. Worked better as a docudrama than a well crafted story.

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

A gripping cyber political thriller. Well acted by Benedict Cumberbatch as the socially awkward genius Julian Assange, the digital whistle-blower from Australia.

User review rating: 3 October 17, 2013

The Fifth Estate accomplishes its intent: offering some insight into an important milestone in history and prompting viewers to question and debate what they have just witnessed. Unfortunately, it takes too long to get there

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

I thought Benedict Cumberbatch did a great job as Julian Assange, but the rest of film left much to be desired. I wasn't a huge fan of the cinematography or the sound design. If I heard that many bleeps and bloops from my programs as I was working I'd have gone crazy long ago. The government officials side of the story seemed a little out of place tone-wise, but I love Stanley Tucci so I'll let that slide. The film wrapped up nicely with Julian (Benedict) stating that the public needs to seek out information to stay informed with what the governments of the world are doing behind our backs. Overall I'd say it was worth watching.

The Fifth Estate is a thought provoking and informative film about the Wikileaks scandal that rocked the world not so long ago and is still being felt today. The performances from the long list of top notch cast members was very impressive. Their performances helped to ground this fast paced movie and remind us that it happend just a couple of years ago and it isn't a fictional story. The one thing I had to remind myself is that it is from the perspective of Daniel, who wrote one of the books the movie is based on, we do not get Julian's point of view, so we can't know how much of Julian's on screen personality and behavior is true to life. The performances by both very tale

I thoroughly enjoyed Benedict Cumberbatch performance; it continues to show me his versatility and range. This film is a great expose on how our world is changing & how accountability will soon be absolutely unavoidable.

A well written and acted movie. The twists and turns in the plot kept you engaged from start to end. Found myself interested in learning more about wikileaks when I got home from the show.

User review rating: 3 October 17, 2013

The Fifth Estate was a very Hollywood telling of the Wikileaks story. I think its hard to do a movie about advanced technology without out glorifying the cheesy over cyber-esque aesthetic. The film at points reminded me of the 1995 movie "Hackers" at points. Acting was good, character development was pretty simple and one note. All in all a good piece of escapism.

User review rating: 3 October 17, 2013

Good suspense ! But once again, Hollywood describe a bad picture of reality trying to satanise a wonderful organization !

User review rating: 2 October 17, 2013

Interesting in terms of learning a little more about Wikileaks and Mr. Assanage but honestly we did not particularly enjoy the film. Perhaps it was because we had seen Captain Phillips the previous evening, which held us spell bound and on the edge of our seats for te entire movie !! That said there is no doubt that Mr. Cumberbatch was well cast and did a credible job with what he was given.

User review rating: 5 October 17, 2013

I thought this movie was excellent! Acting was great, lots of suspense even though we actually do know what happened from the news. Will be an historical film, just setting out the facts of the case.

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

The movie was very interesting. Much better than I thought it would be. Very informative. Didn't seem like a 2 hour movie at all. My wife, who doesn't follow the news or technology very much even liked it. Great acting.

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

I thought the movie was good, but not great. Benedict Cumberbatch did an excellent job of portraying Julian Assange. I did find it very long and it dragged in a few spots.

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

Very good. A bit long, but very interesting. I would go to see it again. I have already recommended it to all my family.

User review rating: 3 October 17, 2013

It was good. I was worried it would be boring & draggy. However, it was very fast paced & held my interest. Actually learned something too, so that was an added benefit.

User review rating: 0 October 17, 2013

Film was incredible !! Eye-opener for me. He is not a bad guy at all !!

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

An enthralling tale. Benedict Cumberbatch is a spellbinding actor, he makes the movie. Although the movie was a little long.

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

I found that the principal actor was excellent, and the story very well-presented

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

very interesting to view especially after following the story in the press for the past 6 months. I thought it gave a fairly balanced representation of Julian Assange in that it showed both his dedication and his failures.

User review rating: 5 October 17, 2013

Really enjoyed the movie. Cumberbatch and Domscheit-Berg portrayed Assange and Brühl really well, both in appearance and performance. The movie is still keeping me questioning whether Assange was a good guy or not?

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

"The Fifth Estate"(2013) offers a reflection on the contradition that is Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks. He is a figure whose dedication and addiction to information is superseded only by the weight of his own ego (the character even comments on the film itself in a final moment of self-reflexivity). The film manages to share screen time between Assange (Cumberbatch) and the man who acts as his anchor, Daniel Berg (Bruhl), but gives primacy to a man who seeks truth and yet is himself enshrouded in manipulation, mysteries and half-truths. Its strong international cast and use of 'imagined' visuals to conceptualize the actions (and the reprecussions) of WikiLeaks' team members enable

User review rating: 2 October 17, 2013

I found that The Fifth Estate had far to much build up for very little pay-off. I thought that while Benedict Cumberbatch was credible in the role I thought the movie plodded along and did not give me the ending that I wanted or deserved for sitting through the first 2 hours. I would not recommend this movie to anyone.

User review rating: 3 October 17, 2013

In my opinion, this movie marks a very historical period of our modern information age. Benedict Cumberbatch's performance is top notch and he is supported well by the rest of the cast. This film really shows the relationship that both build and eventually crushed the Wikileaks movement. For a period, of time he they ran the one of the most dangerous website of secret information . This film showcased the working relationship between Julian Assange and Daniel Ellsberg's connection to the website. I would recommend this film to anyone who was unclear of what had transpired and the consequences of free information.

User review rating: 5 October 17, 2013

I really enjoy this film, the actor are great it's very well done the story is great and scary went you think of all it's going on in the computer world.

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

The movie gave me a better idea of the relationship between Julian and Daniel. Never really realized the enormity of their actions so felt the show answered some questions and didn't make them heroes.

User review rating: 2 October 17, 2013

too much detail about things we already know and never gets to the meat of things we want to know.Too much typing and what are they saying.Does not develope the characters at all.

User review rating: 3 October 17, 2013

It was a good story for being based on real life. Wasn't my favorite, it's a one time watch film.

User review rating: 2 October 17, 2013

Fifth Estate movie was slow and boring at times. Wikileaks founder came across as a loose canon. Thank you for sending us to this free screening!

User review rating: 4 October 17, 2013

The movie was very entertaining and interesting. I enjoyed it very much.

User review rating: 3 October 17, 2013

To call this a slow-burn movie would be an understatement - nothing really happens for the whole thing! Despite the worldwide backdrop and a reasonably nuanced performance by Benedict Cumberbatch, the movie feels relatively pointless. Julian Assange's alleged sexual misconduct is not tackled at all, leaving a lot of potential drama on the table. Daniel Berg's love interest is also poorly developed. Not a waste of time if you are a big fan of Cumberbatch or followed the story of Assange daily, but not worth rushing out to see.
