An intimate mixed-media portrait of Reginald Dwayne Betts, who was imprisoned as a teenager and later became a poet, author, lawyer, and activist.
Through performance, animation, poetry, and memoir excerpts narrated by Brian Tyree Henry, the film follows Betts as he reflects on incarceration and returns to prisons to build libraries through his Freedom Reads nonprofit.
