Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) arrives in Virgin River to work as a nurse, but she's put up at a ramshackle cabin and the doctor (Tim Matheson) insists he doesn't need a nurse. However, she does find that the locals have a certain warmth and the local bar owner, Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) helps out by showing her around and fixing up the cabin.
