Children have been disappearing from a suburban town in Colorado by "The Grabber." On the walk home from school, Finney Shaw (Mason Thames) comes face to face with a "part-time magician" (Ethan Hawke) who ends up kidnapping him and imprisoning him in his soundproof basement. Alone and helpless, Finney finds a disconnected phone on the wall that mysteriously begins to ring. Upon answering the phone, Finney learns that he is talking to the voices of the killer's past victims, who do everything they can to help Finney escape.
