In the trailer for Wes Anderson's animated feature Isle of Dogs, we are told that in Japan, 20 years from now, canine saturation has reached epidemic proportions. An outbreak of dog flu has apparently ripped through the city of Magasaki. Mayor Kobayashi issues emergency orders, calling for an emergency quarantine. Trash Island becomes the place to dump the dogs. The dogs, who only have garbage to eat, and quickly get tired of their diets.

Rex, King, Duke, Boss and Chief form a band of alpha dogs. When a little boy builds an aircraft to get him to the island to look for his lost dog Spot, the alpha dogs help him on his mission, but they believe Spot may be a captive prisoner.
