VINCENT D'ONOFRIO

Date of Birth: June 30, 1959

Although Vincent D'Onofrio had already been in many films before he played pulp writer and Conan the Barbarian creator Robert E. Howard in The Whole Wide World (1996), it was really this performance that made everyone sit up and take notice. This small, delightful and ultimately tragic tale taken from Novalyne Price Ellis' memoirs of her friendship with Howard also helped launch the career of Renée Zellweger.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Vincent may be best known for his starring role as Robert Goren on the hit series Law & Order: Criminal Intent, which enjoyed 10 successful seasons. He has also played starring roles on Daredevil (2016) as Wilson Fisk, and on Emerald City (2016 to 2017) as The Wizard. In 1998, he received an Emmy nomination for his guest appearance as John Lange in the episode "The Subway" on Homicide: Life on the Street.

Vincent has said that he always planned to build a reputation as a character actor, and with his skill at stepping out of his own skin and completely transforming himself into other characters, it's clear he's succeeded. He's won numerous awards for his acting around the world, including Best Actor at the Lone Star Film & Television Awards for The Whole Wide World (1996), Best Supporting Actor from Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films for Men in Black (1997), Best Actor at the 2005 Stockholm Film Festival for his work in Thumbsucker (2005), Best Actor at the Seattle International Film Festival for The Whole Wide World (1996), Best Actor at the Nashville Film Festival for The Narrows (2008) and Best Actor at both the Catalonian International Film Festival and at the Fright Meter Awards for Chained (2012).

Vincent is known for being a mentor on the set to up-and-coming actors such as Renée Zellweger, who thanked him in her acceptance speech when she won an Oscar for her work in Cold Mountain (2003), and Martin Sensmeier, who played Red Harvest alongside Vincent in The Magnificent Seven (2016), to name just a couple.

Besides The Magnificent Seven (2016), he also recently starred in Jurassic World (2015) alongside Chris Pratt, Rings (2017) with Johnny Galecki, Dax Shepard's comedy CHiPs (2017) and Death Wish (2018) with Bruce Willis.

Vincent has a daughter, Leila George, from his relationship with actress Greta Scacchi. In 1997 he married Carin van der Donk and they have two sons — Elias Gene and Luka.
