LAKE BELL

Date of Birth: March 24, 1979

Born in New York City, Lake Bell attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York before transferring to Rose Bruford College in London, England. She got her first taste of acting there, appearing in stage productions such as The Seagull and The Children's Hour. After graduating in 2002, she moved to Los Angeles to further her acting career.

Following roles in two movies that were never released, she got work in the NBC-TV movie War Stories, starring Jeff Goldblum. Guest appearances on two episodes of ER followed, as well as a small role in I Love Your Work (2003), starring Christina Ricci, Jason Lee and Vince Vaughn, but it was screened only at a handful of film festivals.

However, Bell soon got her big break when she landed the regular role of Victoria in NBC-TV's Miss Match from 2003 to 2005, starring Alicia Silverstone. Almost simultaneously, she was chosen to appear in four episodes of the hit ABC-TV series The Practice in 2004 as Sally Heep, a role she would later be asked to recreate as a series regular in the spinoff, Boston Legal. Bell left the show in 2005 to play the lead in the sci-fi series Surface. When it was cancelled in 2006, she decided to tackle the big screen.

Roles quickly came her way in motion pictures such as Over Her Dead Body (2008), starring alongside Eva Longoria Parker and Paul Rudd, What Happens in Vegas (2008) with Cameron Diaz, and Pride and Glory (2008) opposite Colin Farrell. In recent years, she starred in and directed the comedy In a World... (2013), followed by a lead role in the horror flick Black Rock (2013). Next she lent her voice to the animated film Mr. Peabody & Sherman (2014) and starred alongside Jon Hamm in Million Dollar Arm (2014).

Lake also starred in the romantic comedy Man Up (2015), the thriller No Escape (2015) and the crime thriller Shot Caller (2016). The next year was a busy one for Lake, who starred in several films such as Ghost of New Orleans (2017), Home Again (2017), I Do... Until I Don't (2017) and What's the Point? (2017).

She also provided the voice of Chloe the cat for the animated comedy The Secret Life of Pets (2016) and the sequel, The Secret Life of Pets 2 (2019).

Lake, who lives in Los Angeles with her dog, Margaret, enjoys painting and drawing in her spare time.
