Date of Birth: July 18, 1980

Although born in Huntington Woods, Bell attended Shrine Catholic High School in nearby Royal Oak, in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. Bell first got her first taste of acting at the young age of 12 when she played a banana in Raggedy Ann and Andy. Bell's acting continued throughout high school as she took parts in The Wizard of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof and Lady Be Good.

Bell received professional training when she left Michigan and moved to New York to attend the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, where she majored in musical theater. In her senior year, Bell left school to take a role as Becky Thatcher in the Broadway musical The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Shortly following this, Bell accepted another role in Arthur Miller's The Crucible where she acted alongside Laura Linney and Liam Neeson. After an uncredited role in the big screen feature Polish Wedding (1998) starring Claire Danes, Bell picked up and moved to Los Angeles.

Once in Los Angeles, Bell's career took off. She took numerous guest television appearances and small film roles before landing the lead role in the well-known television series Veronica Mars. In 2007 the series came to an end and Bell continued with big screen roles in Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical (2005) and Pulse (2006).

Currently, Bell plays Ellie Bishop on NBC's Heroes, a mysterious girl with remarkable powers and narrates CW's Gossip Girls. Meanwhile, Bell's schedule is filling up with major motion pictures, including the title role in Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008). The blonde beauty has since starred in films like Fanboys (2008), Serious Moonlight (2009), When in Rome (2009), and Hit & Run (2012), as well as lending her voice to the animated hit Frozen (2013).

She then starred in the animated flick Zootopia (2016), and the comedies The Boss (2016) alongside Melissa McCarthy, Bad Moms (2016) starring Mila Kunis, CHiPs (2017) with Michael Peña, and How to Be a Latin Lover (2017) with Salma Hayek. She would reunite with her Bad Moms cast mates for the film's sequel A Bad Moms Christmas (2017). On top of her work in films, Bell can be seen on television too with recurring roles in two series: Unsupervised and House of Lies.

In 2019, Bell reprised her role in the hit sequel Frozen II, lending her voice to the character of Anna.

When not acting, Bell, who was voted PETA's "World's Sexiest Vegetarian" in 2006, spends her time supporting Helen Woodward Animal Center, Invisible Children Inc., and rooting for the Detroit Red Wings. She is married to actor/director Dax Shepard, with whom she has two children.
