KARI WUHRER

Date of Birth: April 28, 1967

This Connecticut native who hit the big time as a MTV VeeJay is the youngest of three kids, so as a child, was constantly vying for attention. In her youth, the aspiring actress and singer would sneak into Manhattan at night to sing with bands.

By the time she was 16, the German/Cherokee descendent persuaded her mother to take her to the Ford Talent Agency where she was signed on the spot and began working on commercial work, modeling jobs and theatre productions.

The work led to a regular gig on MTV's TV-trivia game show Remote Control alongside Adam Sandler.

While the work paid the bills, Wuhrer built up her acting ability while attending NYU's Drama Department and studied with the famed actress/teacher Uta Hagen, and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.

Wuhrer's veejay status helped her begin to get parts in Hollywood.

First in an episode of Married...With Children, then recurring roles on Beverly Hills 90210 as Ariel Hunter, a part on the TV series Swamp Thing, and then as femme fatale Robin Farr on the short-lived drama series Class of '96. She had better luck in 1997, becoming regular on the popular series Sliders playing Maggie Beckett.

Though she has made numerous appearances on the big screen, Wuhrer remains a relative unknown to the theatre goers.

Following a co-starring role in the horror flop, Anaconda (1997), she moved through a pile of feature work, few of which hit the mainstream.

She met her husband Salin, a rock musician, in 1991 at a mutual friend's party.

The two were married in 1995, but separated and divorced in 1999. Though her marriage had ended, Wuhrer had achieved another ambition that year, releasing her first album titled Shiny.
