CHASKE SPENCER

Date of Birth: March 9, 1975

Emerging actor and activist Chaske Spencer was born of the Lakota Sioux tribe, and raised on Indian Reservations in Montana and Idaho. One of Spencer's first goals was to become a photographer, but before long he found himself in front of the camera, pursuing an acting career. He moved to New York City and in between bartending and waiting tables was cast in his very first major role, an Off Broadway production of Dracula, playing the title character.

A number of New York plays followed and he was discovered by television and film casting director Rene Haynes. She cast him in his first feature Skins, as well as the TV movie DreamKeeper and Steven Spielberg's television epic Into the West.

Hayes also cast him in his most buzz worthy role to date, playing the leader of the werewolves in the popular The Twilight Saga: New Moon from Summit Entertainment. He then reprised his role in the third movie of the series: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Spencer recently signed on to star in the new film Shouting Secrets alongside Q'oriaka Kilcher as well as Winter In The Blood.

When not working as an actor, Spencer is passionate about making a difference with all people in the area of reducing poverty and creating sustainable communities. In fact, he is engaged in several projects to that end. His work as a spokesperson for United Global Shift gives him the opportunity to impact many areas he is committed to shifting—poverty, sustainable communities, and global empowerment. Through his personal project Shift The Power To The People, he is shining a spotlight on initiatives designed to create sustainability and prosperity.
