Vivienne Jolie-Pitt is the latest of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's six children to take legal steps to remove "Pitt" from her last name.
The 18-year-old, who celebrated her birthday on July 12, filed a petition with the Los Angeles County Superior Court to change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. According to court documents, Vivienne listed the reason for the request as "personal." A hearing on the petition is scheduled for Nov. 2.
Vivienne is not the first of the former couple's children to seek a name change. In 2024, Shiloh successfully petitioned to legally remove "Pitt" from her surname, becoming Shiloh Jolie. Meanwhile, Zahara and Maddox are also pursuing legal name changes.
"It's sad to see someone repeatedly publicize their successful alienation of their children from the other parent," a source close to Brad previously told PEOPLE.
The family's name changes come after years of reported estrangement between Pitt and his children following his highly publicized split from Angelina in 2016 after two years of marriage and more than a decade together. The pair finalized their divorce in late 2024 following an eight-year legal battle, though they remain embroiled in a separate dispute over their former French winery, Château Miraval.
The distance between Pitt and his children has remained a subject of public discussion for years, with the actor rarely seen with them since 2016. As Vivienne becomes the latest of their children to move away from the Pitt surname, the decision marks another public moment in the family’s long-running estrangement. ~Megan Parsons
Sounds like mom has been hard at work poisoning her children about their father. I guess since mama did it, the kids follow her. As a kid that was made to choose which parent was good and which was evil when I was 5, I can tell you its wrong. A child should never choose between parents. Parents should get along for the kids and not poison their brains! The grooming started young with them and this is the result. Especially when Brad has given up all of his vices and is on the straight and narrow. I knew when he got with that syco it wasn't going to turn out well !
I think Angelina Jolie speaks ill of Brad Pitt to the Children. She doesn't want them to have any kind of discipline and that has been recorded. .Parents should involve or put the children in their problems and divorce. She has always been unstable. look at her track record She called her father, The Actor Jon Voight, no slouch in the Crazy Department Himself, A Serial Cheater. What would you call her. The apple didn't fall far from the tree. I'm sure Brad realizes the biggest mistake of his life was marrying her. Sad because the Children will be totally like her screwed up.
You can certainly see that Angelina who I admired as an actress for years is soooo bitter even after all these years!!!! I hope the kids will one day look back at how evil and manipulive their mother was and come to Brad when they fully understand he loves them and wants nothing but the best for them!!! Hang on Brad they will come to you one day in the future and embrace you as their father once again!!💕
Rich or poor to many families end like this. With one parents bitterness poisoning not only their life but that of their ex. I don't care why you broke up, unless the other parent was violent and a danger to yourself and the children, don't involve the kids. If they cheated, they didn't cheat on the kids. If there's drugs or alcohol involved, supervised visits. Instead they do this too the children and set them on the path to have troubled relationships themselves.
The kids were old enough to see and remember their father's behaviour. The last straw for Angelina was when Brad was drunk and violent toward one of the kids. He could have gotten some kind of therapy and made amends, but it sounds like he didn't, or perhaps it was just too little, too late. These kids have made their own decisions about Brad.
